The first group book read of the year will be on Monday afternoon, November 17. We’ll meet at Genie Lester’s home, 22516 Charlene Way, Castro Valley, from 2-4. Genie will facilitate the discussion of Alec Navala-Lee’s exciting international mystery novel, The Icon Thief. A highlight of the afternoon will be an opportunity to discuss with and question the author himself who will be present via Skype. Refreshments will be served.
The program is open to all branch members. If you are new to the group and wish to come, please contact Genie. If you are a regular but are unable to come, let Genie know. It is important that our hostess knows how many are coming so she can plan refreshments as well have enough chairs for all. Gene’s phone number is 581-8172.
There will be no meeting in December.
The first meeting of 2015 will be on Monday, January 19th at the San Lorenzo home of Jean Turner, 3442 Del Campo Circle. This will be our second group read, Modern Slavery: Investigating Human Trafficking by Hayward policeman Detective Ryan Cantrell.
We’ll discuss mostly chapter three and will look at case studies. The program is an introduction to a special branch program on Human Trafficking to be held at the Castro Valley Library on February 24th.
Mark both dates on your calendar and join in the discussions of a critical international problem.
