Tips For Change Dinner
August 22nd is the date for our third annual Tips For Change Dinner at Gianni’s Italian Bistro in San Ramon.
Think about being one of our fantastic servers for the evening. I will be sending out more information as the date gets closer. This is always a fun-filled evening with lots of good food, good fun, good company and great raffle items.
If you have any questions e-mail me at jharrison663@comcast.net and I’ll try to answer them.
Souper Supper
We will once again be having our Souper Supper on May 13th at the First Baptist Church, at the corner of Redwood Road and 7 Hills.
We will once again present our new Trek Tech campers and have a chance to meet their families.
The money made from this program will go toward our sending a Chabot College student leader to the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders at the University of Maryland-College Park in eary June.
VOTER REGISTRATION
Tuesday April 5th
Cal State East Bay
The students will be having a drive to get their students and faculty registered to vote by having a special event on campus. They will have all sorts of groups represented with tables and we are looking for some of our members who would be willing to go to the campus and be there to represent AAUW and help register people to vote. Their plans are to do it electronically using the Secretary of State’s website. How this works is new to me, but it should streamline the process not having to use the long paper application. I have recommended that they get the email of the people that they register so that they can be contacted about the June and November elections as they approach. AAUW research has found that the success of getting new voters to the poles really depends on their being reminded of the date and place where they need to vote more than once.
Let me know if you would like to help.
